New Release – Infinite Studio 4.0.0 (UE5.3)

What’s New

We are very excited to announce a major release of Infinite Studio 4 which has been upgraded to Unreal Engine 5 and is now available!

Infinite Studio is a collection of software plugins that support research, development, simulation, and analysis of electro-optical (EO) and infrared (IR) systems across a variety of complex environments. Infinite Studio offers a multispectral, real-time rendering framework, to support dynamic modelling & simulation requirements across a range of complex theatres and scenarios.

Major Features

This major release brings:

  1. An upgrade of the core engine to UE 5.3.

  2. Support for large worlds; where the Radiometry, StreetMap and External Control plugins have been updated to support Large World Coordinates, World Partitioning & Georeferencing.

  3. Support for Chaos Vehicles; where the Drive plugin components have now been deprecated and replaced by Unreal Engine’s lightweight system for vehicle physics simulations.

  4. Extended External Sim, Actor & Camera controls, with new commands to control Atmosphere, Clouds, Wind, Ocean and Georeferencing properties.

Map Updates

Infinite Studio real world scenes (urban, rural, forests, grasslands, deserts, mountains, littoral, etc.) are currently being upgraded to use the new UE5 Large World Coordinates, World Partitioning & Georeferencing capability. Buildings, roads, railways, and vegetation are imported from OpenStreetMap and terrain height data from the Registry of Open Data on AWS global dataset.

Chaos Vehicles

Infinite Studio wheeled and tracked vehicles have been upgraded to use the new UE5 Chaos Vehicles & Enhanced Input System functionality.

Asset Updates

All assets and 3D models are currently being reviewed & upgraded to support best practices for Infinite Studio spectral materials.

External Control Improvements

  1. New Atmosphere control; to set MODTRAN atmosphere, extent size, cloud coverage & altitude, wind speed & heading.

  2. New Ocean control; to set fetch, swell development, depth, amplitude scale & local wind override properties.

  3. New Georeferencing control; to set map origin (latitude & longitude coords).

  4. Updated Actor spawn & transform commands to support double-precision floating-point data for large world coordinates, as well as georeferencing coords (latitude, longitude & altitude).
